Summary

Lung cancer screening (LCS) is at a turning point with more countries starting to adopt it as a national program. As screening expands, barriers at the patient, provider, and system levels have become apparent, hindering access, and affecting implementation. Key challenges include the stigma of lung cancer as a self-inflicted condition, the remoteness of screening sites, varying epidemiological conditions and resources across countries, and the inefficient integration of CT screening policies at the national level.

Despite the existing knowledge about LCS, there is still much to learn about how these barriers are interconnected and how the perspectives of different key stakeholders—such as physicians, radiologists, surgeons, other healthcare staff, and potential participants—may impact various aspects of implementation, particularly in terms of access and uptake.

This webinar will highlight barriers to LCS from an access perspective. Experts from various fields will come together to share strategies, insights, and best practices for improving quality and consistency of implementation, to overcome limited uptake of LCS. Additionally, they will discuss how LCS may evolve to help more people in need to have access to the screening in the future.
